What is the DOT MIS report?
The Management Information System (MIS) report is a calendar-year summary of an employer's DOT drug and alcohol testing: the number of covered employees, tests by type, results, and refusals (49 CFR 382.403).
- FMCSA-regulated employers must prepare and submit it when FMCSA requests it; not every employer is asked every year.
- Employers keep a copy of each annual summary for five years.
- A C/TPA can prepare the report for the employer.
The form and instructions are in Drug and alcohol testing MIS data collection form. See also Does an MIS report have to be submitted to FMCSA every year?.
